Clinton Lake is a reservoir located in the northeastern part of Kansas, USA, about 5 miles west of Lawrence. The lake was created in 1975 by the US Army Corps of Engineers for flood control, water supply, and recreation purposes. The lake has a surface area of 7,000 acres and a maximum depth of 45 feet. It is fed by the Wakarusa and Marais des Cygnes rivers and has a capacity of 77,000 acre-feet of water. Clinton Lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating, swimming, camping, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The lake is stocked with a variety of fish species, including channel catfish, crappie, white bass, bluegill, and largemouth bass. The Clinton Lake State Park offers various recreational opportunities, including picnic areas, playgrounds, hiking trails, and campsites. The lake also has several marinas and boat ramps, as well as a swimming beach and a fishing dock.
